Specimen #016 – Swallow & Marigold

It left before she could say what she meant.

Specimen #016 – Swallow & Marigold holds the melancholy of departure — a grey-and-white enamel swallow in mid-flight faces a golden orange multi-petal marigold with a small green leaf accent, on a clean polished gold open band. The swallow's wings are spread wide; it is already leaving.

The marigold is rendered in layers of orange and amber enamel, its white centre dotted with tiny gold stamens. The swallow across from it is understated — grey body, white wingtips, painted with jeweller's restraint. Between them, an open space that represents everything unsaid. This is the ring of the moment just after someone turns and walks away.
